New kid in town Jim Stark arrives with a bad reputation; he’s been in trouble in the past which is why his family have had to move to Los Angeles. But he’s soon arrested for drunken behaviour, and at the police station he meets two other juveniles, Judy and Plato, who are also both struggling with issues at home. All three have complicated relationships with their families, and so together they decide to rebel against society around them, falling afoul of a gang of delinquents, with dangerous, substantial consequences. One of the first films to explore teenage issues in such a compelling manner, this classic 1950s film has developed a cult status.
Engrossing tragi-comedy centring on the friendship between two street drifters, a troubled gay youth in love with a rebellious rich kid.
