The life and untimely death of singer Ian Curtis is the subject of this dramatic biopic that also vividly captures an exciting moment in music history. It's the 1970s and growing up Macclesfield, Ian dreams of becoming a rock star. After witnessing the birth of punk, he joins the band that will evolve into Joy Division. But the road to success goes hand in hand with a deterioration in Ian's marriage and his physical well-being. Despite its tragic conclusion, this film is ultimately a celebration of a great talent and Joy Division's musical legacy. The black-and-white visuals only serve to make the story all the more powerful.
