Synopsis

The original King Kong remains an unparalleled horror-fantasy whose reputation is much deserved. An expedition captures a gigantic ape and brings him back to New York for exhibition - but a beautiful actress provokes feelings of love in the mighty Kong, causing him to break free from his chains and bring terror to New York City. Boasting visual effects that were incredible at the time they were made (and look pretty impressive even now), the first King Kong to hit the big-screen is thrilling, terrifying - and ultimately moving, with Kong reflecting back at us all the deeply buried urges and emotions of "civilised" man.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
