Synopsis

Despite being thousands of years old, the adventurous tales of Greek mythology still have a significant impact on the stories we tell today. This particular saga begins as King Aristo is usurped from the throne of Thessaly by Pelias, leaving Aristo's son, Jason, an orphan. Years later, Jason sets out to recruit the fiercest warriors in the land and retrieve the legendary Golden Fleece in an effort to usurp Pelias and regain the throne he believes to be rightfully his. The adventures of the Argonauts, who face endless danger along the way, come to life through the genius stop-motion creatures created by Ray Harryhausen, including the many-headed Hydra, skeleton soldiers, winged Harpies and the bronze giant Talos. This film is an exciting and accessible starting point for anyone learning about Greek mythology.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
