Synopsis

In Ancient Greek mythology, Hercules is the son of Zeus, king of the gods on Mount Olympus. As a baby, Hercules is snatched away by Hades, ruler of the underworld, and turned into a half-mortal. But Hercules keeps his god-like strength, and as he grows up, he realises that he is different from other humans. In order for him to rejoin the gods on Mount Olympus, he must prove that he can be a true hero on Earth, with the help of his feisty trainer Philoctetes and winged horse Pegasus. As he fights monsters and saves people in need, the evil Hades grows angry and hatches a plan to defeat Hercules and take over Mount Olympus.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
