Synopsis

Director Shakhar Kapur and star Cate Blanchett had such a good time with their 1998 film Elizabeth that they returned for a second chunk of the life of the great queen. This instalment moves on to the most famous moments of Elizabeth I's reign - the plotting by her cousin, Mary Queen of Scots, and the attack of the Spanish Armada. Be warned, though - while there is top acting, lovely costumes and an exciting battle here, it should not be taken as super-accurate history.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
