Never before has Queen Victoria, who presided over one of the stuffiest periods in English history, been portrayed as the beautiful princess seen in this sumptuous costume drama. Here we see her romanced by a dashing Prince Albert and exhibit some of the fire and spirit that would, in later years, fuel the monarch's famously stubborn personality. Some historical facts have been tweaked to ramp up the drama (such as Albert's heroic dive into the path of an assassin's bullet ) but Emily Blunt is captivating in the title role.
Sofia Coppola film using a rock soundtrack to portray notorious French royal Marie Antoinette as a bored teen, rather than a cruel monster.
