Synopsis

In this 1980s comedy-horror musical, Seymour is a young florist who is in love with shop assistant Audrey. But she already has a boyfriend, who isn’t at all nice to her. With the business about to go bust and hoping to impress Audrey, Seymour decides to put on display a very strange and interesting plant in the shop window – a plant that it turns out is from outer space, can sing, and eats humans! The fast-growing plant brings Seymour success, but hungry as it is for blood, it also brings chaos. With amazing puppetry, dark humour and catchy songs, this B-movie remake parodies 1950s science fiction and remains a musical theatre favourite.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
