Inspired by Clement Clarke Moore's poem ‘The Night Before Christmas’, this magical tale sees Santa out delivering presents when he decides to stop and take a break, enjoying the biscuits that have been left out for him. As he puts his feet up, the toys inside his sack start to step out from their wrapping paper, coming to life! A romance blossoms between a toy sailor and a wind-up shepherd girl, but a malevolent jack-in-the-box gets in the way. With Wild West-style runaway trains and soldiers to the rescue, the toys are clearly having way too much fun playing their own games, before Santa persuades them back in their gift wrapping, ready for children to enjoy the next day. Brought to life by British animation pioneers Halas & Batchelor, best known for their version of Animal Farm, this charming film is full of the spirit of Christmas.
