In this dystopian thriller set in an alternate version of 2025, survival has become entertainment for the masses. The most popular show on television is The Running Man, where contestants must survive for 30 days after a bounty is put on their head in order to win a grand prize. After being fired from his position at a factory, blue-collar worker Ben Richards is struggling to make ends meet so when his infant child falls ill, he is forced to enter the gameshow against his better judgement. On the run through tech-heavy cities and attempting to avoid oppressive hunters using both brains and brawn, Ben begins to see how the odds are stacked against him, leading him to become an unlikely figure of the resistance. Touching upon contemporary themes such as media literacy, social inequality and the spreading of false narratives, this new film from Edgar Wright is also a fast-paced, action-packed thriller.
Classification strong bloody violence, language, brief sex references
