It’s 1969, the Apollo 11 mission has yet to launch, and the USA is falling behind in the Space Race. Kelly Jones, a savvy advertising executive, is recruited by a secretive government agent to boost NASA’s image and drum up public interest again. Kelly clashes with the launch director, Cole Davis, whose principles are at odds with Kelly’s bold publicity tactics. As the countdown to the moon landing begins, Kelly is given the outlandish task of staging a fake moon landing as a backup for broadcasting in case the real mission fails. Torn between her growing feelings for Cole and the pressure to deceive the world, Kelly must choose between ambition and integrity. This romantic comedy offers an insight into one of humanity’s greatest achievements, fictionalising the conspiracy theories that have built up around it, thus resonating with contemporary discussions around media manipulation and misinformation.
