Synopsis

Looking at how far the LGBTQ+ movement has come since the decriminalisation of homosexuality up until the work that there is still left to do, this inspiring documentary spans through a spectrum of rare footage and interviews exploring key landmarks in the fight against homophobia and transphobia. Discussing movements that transformed human rights such as the Stonewall riots and Gay Pride, the film asks key questions about society while also posing urgent arguments around how racism and xenophobia impacts the lives of LGBTQ+ people of colour in the UK and around the world. Featuring pioneering and rising activists in the UK, this energetic documentary is a good introduction to human rights and activism, while also being a valuable resource on UK history.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
