Us; Are You Proud?; Before the Flood

After the breakaway success of Get Out, Jordan Peele delivers another terrifying slice of Americana with Us. A family on a relaxed lakeside getaway find their vacation turned upside down when they are terrorised one night by a group of people who look exactly like them. This chilling horror is an intense and probing look into class, community and the duality of contemporary America.

Meanwhile, Are You Proud? is the new LGBTQ+ documentary that takes a look at how far the movement has come since the decriminalisation of homosexuality and the work that is still left to do. Featuring pioneering and rising activists in the UK, this energetic documentary is a good introduction to human rights and activism, while also being a valuable resource on UK history.

Lastly, environmental documentary Before the Flood brings both an urgency and star power in its attempt to bring more attention to the plight facing planet Earth. The facts are alarming, but actor Leonardo DiCaprio presents the audience with a series of straightforward, tangible actions that can help stem the damage. Inspiring and informative in equal measure, this prescient film is attempting to raise the alarm on an important subject.
