The Teachers' Lounge
Synopsis
Carla Nowak is a teacher at a state school in Germany who, by all accounts, is well-liked by her students and colleagues alike. Although she can be frosty at times, she has an idealistic outlook on the world around her and especially towards her role as an educator. When one of her students is suspected of stealing from money from the teachers’ lounge during schooltime, she sets up a secret camera to try and catch the true perpetrator, setting off a chain reaction involving teachers, students and parents that lead to Carla’s life spiraling out of control. Cycling between a workplace drama and a fascinating thriller, this character-driven story poses ethical questions around authority, prejudice and relationships.
