With hits like ‘Back to Black', ‘Rehab', and ‘Tears Dry on Their Own', Amy Winehouse shot to fame in the mid-2000s with her astonishingly soulful voice and raw emotional lyrics. This biopic tells the story of her whirlwind career and offers a sensitive, personal perspective on her turbulent love life and struggles with addiction. Encouraged by her Jewish working-class father and grandmother, Amy records her first album at the age of 20 and must soon deal with the pitfalls of success and the expectations for her to change her image and do what she's told. She meets Blake, a cheeky free-spirited man, and they fall head over heels in love. But their romance is embittered by the pressures of fame, drugs and alcohol. As Amy pours her soul into what would become one of the highest charting albums by a British female artist of all time, life seems to crumble around her.
