Join us for a special event celebrating all things wildlife filmmaking!

We'll begin with a screening of It's Just Trees Bro, a short film created by a group of talented young people from Bristol Youth Zone 224 as part of our Every Child a Filmmaker initiative, delivered in partnership with Bristol-based conservation charity Wildscreen. The film explores the connection between people, nature and wildlife, and encourages audiences to take action to protect the environment.

This will be followed by a careers talk from Wildscreen, giving young people the chance to ask questions and discover how they can take their first steps into wildlife filmmaking. With Bristol widely recognised as a hub for wildlife storytelling, and home to iconic productions such as Planet Earth, this is a brilliant opportunity to inspire learners and introduce them to local creative career pathways.

The event will round off with a screening of My Garden of a Thousand Bees,a story of surprise and revelation. A wildlife cameraman spends his time during the coronavirus pandemic lockdown filming the bees in his urban garden and discovers the many diverse species and personalities that exist in this insect family.

Wildscreen is a Bristol based conservation charity. We envision a world where natural world storytelling is inclusive, accessible and impactful and where nature is protected and thriving. Our mission is to connect people with nature through storytelling, and democratise the creation of and access to nature's stories.

Into Film's UK-wide Every Child a Filmmaker initiative supports groups of young people to create their own short films, with the guidance of professional filmmakers. Young people learn every step of the filmmaking process, from developing ideas to bringing their stories to the big screen.

This careers event introduces young people to screen industry careers.

  • Young people will hear from industry professionals and take part in a careers-focused activity, such as a talk, discussion, workshop, panel or Q&A session.
  • Young people will be supported to make the most of the experience, reflect on what they learn and consider next steps.
  • Supports careers education across the UK, including Gatsby Benchmark 5: Encounters with Employers and Employees.
