Developed by the British Film Institute (BFI) in partnership with the Film Costumes in Action project (FCiA), this course highlights the work of costume teams, bringing the creative processes behind film costume design to life for learners.

In this course, you’ll be introduced to the costume journey, from first ideas to the finished garments on screen. You’ll learn from two award-winning costume designers as they share their creative practice, and you’ll discover the craft of historical costume making. You’ll also see behind the scenes at a London costume house and meet members of the team, gaining insight into their skills, experiences and roles within the industry. Practical tasks and making activities are woven throughout the course, helping you connect the ideas to your own teaching practice.

While learning with us, you’ll gain access to a curated selection of film content, bespoke videos, expert guidance and downloadable resources to support learning back in the classroom.
