This series of short videos offers another chance to discover ideas from our quickfire information session for mentors and teachers in the early stages of their career.

In Shaping New Teachers with Film, teacher, mentor and music/film specialist Tom Howell shares his experiences of using film to enrich classroom practice and support creative reflection.

From using film as a discussion prompt to finetuning pedagogy, you’ll explore practical activities to help teachers build confidence, spark reflection, and make learning visible.

By the end of the sequence, you’ll be able to:

  • Recognise how film can develop confidence, oracy and reflective thinking
  • Suggest activities to help new teachers build observation and interpretation skills with film
  • Find simple entry points to bring the moving image into a new teacher’s classroom.

This series of curated highlights is available on-demand to give you the flexibility to learn whenever you want, wherever you are in the UK.
