Into Film Clubs
Find out everything you need to know about starting an Into Film Club.
Into Film+ is the UK's first free* and rights-compliant streaming service designed explicitly for UK schools, created in partnership with Filmbankmedia, and helps to revolutionise the way educators can use film in the classroom. One key feature that facilitates this is Into Film+ Playlists.
Playlists are the next step from our Into Film+ highlights feature, which allows you to save a useful scene (or short segment of a film) from a feature or short film on Into Film+ and then easily play it back whenever you need. This makes it easier than ever for you to use film to quickly illustrate all sorts of topics or themes in the classroom.
The Into Film+ Playlists feature allows you to assemble your created highlights into your very own playlists. Created playlists will appear in their very own 'My Playlists' tab on your account page. That means, rather than having to navigate to multiple different film pages to find all of your created highlights around a certain theme or topic, you can now bring them all together into a playlist and access them all at once.
Your playlists could run through a series of highlights that illustrate a particularly important point, or your playlist could be used to present highlights from films that explore the same topic from differing points of view. You can create as many playlists as you like to support your teaching - the only limit is your imagination.
If you need some inspiration, you can take a look at some our own playlists, assembled by our expert curation team. As you'll see, you can make playlists around anything - whether it's to illustrate filmmaking techniques, delve into curriculum topics, or even explore seasonal events like Christmas.
But of course, you don't have to take our lead - you have the freedom to create playlists around whatever topic, theme, or curriculum subject you want. What's more, in the near future we'll be adding the ability to share your playlists with other educators across the UK, helping the playlists you assemble to help benefit even more teachers and young learners. So check out the playlists below or browse the Into Film+ catalogue for inspiration, and get creating!

To access Into Film+, all you'll need is an Into Film Account - it's completely free*, and only takes a moment to set up. Into Film+ is free to use for all UK state schools that hold a valid Public Video Screening (PVS) Licence from Filmbankmedia.
Filmbankmedia PVS Licences are paid for on behalf of schools by all local authorities in England and by some local authorities in both Wales and Scotland. Into Film NI cover the license cost for some schools in Northern Ireland. For further information on licensing in your locality please see our FAQs.
If you're a state school in England that's funded by the Department for Education, you will automatically have access to Into Film+ Premium, which offers an extended catalogue of 500+ titles. Find out more about Into Film+ Premium in our FAQs.
If you don't have a PVS Licence, or aren't already covered, then a licence can easily be obtained from Filmbankmedia.
Filmbankmedia licenses and distributes film and TV entertainment to many groups and is the licensing authority we work with to ensure schools, libraries and youth groups have the permissions to screen films from our catalogue.
* Screenings for an entertainment or extra-curricular purpose require a PVS (Public Video Screening) Licence from Filmbankmedia. State-funded schools in England are covered by the PVS Licence.
The core Into Film programme is free for UK state schools, colleges and other youth settings, thanks to support from the BFI, awarding National Lottery good cause funding, and through other key funders including Cinema First and Northern Ireland Screen.
