Set in 1929 in Australia's Northern Territory where segregationist policies are in place, Sweet Country sees Aboriginal cattle-herder Sam, his wife and niece sent to work for a racist station owner, Harry March. After Harry embarks on a booze-fuelled rampage, an altercation occurs in which Sam shoots him dead, claiming self-defence. Worried that the locals will take the law into their own hands, Sam and his wife Lizzie go on the run in this epic western.
