The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor is recreated with powerful realism and painstaking accuracy in this 1970 American/Japanese co-production. This film has dual perspective on the run-up to the battle, telling the story from both the American and the Japanese point of view, as diplomacy breaks down and the Japanese military plan their surprise strike on the US naval base in Hawaii. The film is so even-handed that, at the time of release, many Americans considered it unpatriotic.
This powerful drama sees a child separated from his parents during the 1931 Japanese invasion of China and put in an internment camp for foreigners.
