Synopsis

For many years, the cowboy movie was a stand-by for Hollywood. But as directed by the acclaimed film-maker Ang Lee, Brokeback Mountain takes a very different approach to the well-trodden genre, telling the story of two American ranchers, Ennis Del Mar and Jack Twist, who find themselves thrown together by a job on a remote mountain in the 1960s, and much to their own shock falling in love. Such emotions between men were all but forbidden in the world Jack and Ennis came from, and each soon go their own way, marrying and having children, but their feelings for one another are not easy to get rid of. A powerful and ground-breaking love story with great performances from co-stars Jake Gyllenhaal and the late Heath Ledger.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
