Billie is a sixteen-year-old having weekly meetings with her mother Jane, who has recently come out as transgender, requesting to be called James as he undergoes gender reassignment. Meanwhile, Billie is going through her own identity issues and begins experimenting with a new group of friends, which she documents in a series of uninhibited self-made home videos. Shot every Tuesday over the course of a year, this unusually structured film deals with universal issues around identity, growing up, and the complicated, often fractious relationship between parents and their children in warm-hearted, gently humorous and often startlingly frank fashion.
