Synopsis

In this perfect illustration in movie-making, the first half of the movie is simply about a group of bored, hard-drinking men sitting around in a small town in South America - but all the time, we're getting to know the characters and the tension is slowly building. Then, in the second half of the film, two of them set off driving trucks packed with nitroglycerin on a rocky, mountainous route knowing that any bump could blow them to pieces - but compelled to keep going by the promise of a stack of cash at the end of it. Simple but absolutely perfect in its execution, this is a nerve-shredding and brilliant movie.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
