Synopsis

This silent comedy stars Buster Keaton as the son of a steamboat Captain who comes home after years away. The father tries to teach Junior his trade without much luck - and Junior also discovers that the girl he's got his eye on is the daughter of his dad's bitter rival. Matters come to a head during a huge storm, where Keaton pulls off one of cinema's most memorable stunts - the entire front wall of a house falls down around him, but he survives because he's standing exactly where the open window is.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
