Synopsis

Not quite as famous as his contemporaries Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton, clown prince of silent slapstick Harold Lloyd was certainly as influential as both indeed, he was one of the first film-makers to use the feature-length format. More prolific than Chaplin or Keaton, Lloyd's daredevil comic stunts, such as the famous clock-hanging sequence in Safety Last! (1923), were often dreamed up and executed with jaw-dropping speed. This collection of features and shorts has ensured that his legacy as "the third genius" will live on. Note that this is a nine-disc collection.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
