Having made sure the legend of King Arthur would never be the same again with Monty Python and the Holy Grail, this time the cult comedy team set their satirical sights on religion. Thus we follow the life of the very ordinary Brian, growing up in Holy Land at the same time as Jesus, encountering all manner of madness in the form of ex-lepers, demented prophets and even extraterrestrials. Although it stirred up a lot of controversy at the time it was released for seeming to poke fun at religion, this hilarious film has comedic detail packed into every frame, and has often topped polls as the funniest film of all time.
Controversial film from famed director Martin Scorsese presenting Jesus Christ as a very human figure, prone to fantasies and anxieties.
