Synopsis

For once, voters for the Oscars were right - this acerbic, pitch-black satire about an ambitious young actress hoisting herself up the showbusiness ladder won six Oscars, and this wonderful film remains the benchmark for any movie about the backstabbing nature of fame. Anne Baxter is the not-so-innocent on Broadway, George Sanders is droll as the critic who sees through her - and Bette Davis, in a film where every line crackles, gets to say: "Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night." Cinematic bliss.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
