Synopsis

The original film from 1976 about down-on-his-luck boxer Rocky Balboa is a tough and emotionally powerful story. Rocky makes his living intimidating people for a back-street money-lender but still dreams of being a pro fighter, and gets his unexpected chance when the world champion decides to take on an unknown as a publicity stunt. Sylvester Stallone's film is as much about poverty and the words strong men struggle to say as it is about the big climactic fight.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
