Synopsis

On his 13th birthday, Harry is visited by Uncle Vernon’s equally dreadful sister who he casts a spell upon after she insults his parents. Expecting to be expelled from Hogwarts for his transgression, Harry flees to the Leaky Cauldron where he finds Ron and Hermione, as well as the Minister for Magic, Cornelius Fudge, who assures him that he will not be punished. All is not well, however: Harry soon learns that notorious criminal Sirius Black – a convicted supporter of Lord Voldemort – has escaped from the high-security prison of Azkaban and is roaming free. With ghostly prison guards known as Dementors set to patrol the school until Black is captured and a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher in post, there is further change at Hogwarts as our heroic trio must confront more dangerous times in their teenage years. Directed by Alfonso Cuaron who brings a darker tone to the franchise, ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’ is seen as a high point in the series and sees Michael Gambon in the role of Albus Dumbledore for the first time.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
