Synopsis

For a group of kids with extraordinary talents, New York's High School of the Performing Arts is the place where dreams can come true - whether those dreams involve singing, ballet, or stand-up comedy. We get to know them from their first auditions, through gruelling rehearsals, to their end of term performances - and it's exhilarating, emotional stuff. The action takes place in the 1980s - so expect plenty of legwarmers and some fantastic disco routines, at the world's first Fame Academy.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
