Named after a song by NWA, Boyz N The Hood is the story of a group of young African American men growing up in South Central LA. When Tre's mum realises that his behaviour is more than she can deal with, she sends him to live with his dad, Furious. While Tre receives the benefit of Furious's strict discipline and moral guidance, his friends Doughboy and Rick are fatherless, left to navigate their own path through the morass of gangs, guns and drugs in the neighbourhood. Both a brilliantly observed coming-of-age story and a clear-eyed portrait of a community, Boyz N The Hood was recognised on release as a classic of American cinema.
This film has several uses of strong bad language and violence
