Synopsis

Barton Fink is a New York playwright in the 1930s lured to Hollywood by promises of money and fame. His first job at the studio is a script for a terrible B-movie based on the world of wrestling - so he holes up in a hotel with a typewriter and a stack of paper. But no matter what he tries, he comes up with nothing. Faced with a terrible case of writer's block, Fink enlists the help of his seemingly jovial neighbour Charlie - but it's then that things get very strange indeed for Barton, in this critically-acclaimed black comedy from the Coen brothers.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
