Synopsis

Adaptation is a film written by Charlie Kaufman about a screenwriter called Charlie Kaufman (but played by Nicolas Cage) and his twin brother Donald (also played by Nicolas Cage). That's just the start of the complications in this hugely original and very funny comedy that takes apart the way Hollywood movies are normally constructed and sneaks in a tense film-within-a-film adventure story set in the alligator-filled Florida swamps almost as a bonus. A fascinating, if off-kilter examination into the creative process of a screenwriter.
