In May 2021, a UK Home Office immigration raid in the early hours of the morning occurs in Glasgow’s Pollokshields neighbourhood on the day of Eid. As local residents discover what is happening, they spring into action to prevent the van from leaving the area, with one determined resident placing themselves beneath the vehicle in a desperate act of dissent. With the vehicle unable to depart, a large crowd begins to form over the course of the next few hours which draws media attention to the scene. As the situation escalates into an incident which provokes national coverage, the authorities are left with a tough decision to make. ‘Everybody to Kenmure Street’ is a stirring demonstration of solidarity, community, and protest in action.
