Synopsis

Based on the gaming phenomenon of the same name, this feature film takes everything that gamers love about the ultimate sandbox world of Minecraft and transposes it into a wacky cinematic universe. Brother and sister duo Henry and Natalie move to a town called Chuglass, Idaho where they immediately start getting into trouble. When Henry finds a kinship with failing video store owner Garrett "The Garbage Man" Garrison, he discovers an orb and crystal that belonged to a man named Steve, subsequently fusing them together and transporting himself, his sister and Garrett to a place called the Overworld. Here, imagination is key to survival, especially when dealing with Malgosha, the gold-obsessed piglin ruler of the Nether, who despises creativity. Eventually running into Steve himself, the group set out on an adventure of exploration that will take courage, friendship and a whole heaping of creativity if they want to save the Overworld and make their way home. This hugely popular adaptation is a true 21st century film, fusing video games and cinema together in a unique fashion.

What our educators say

"Some of them saw a clip from Wakolda (The German Doctor) on TV recently and really wanted to watch it. So I thought I’d take a chance, not expecting them to watch the whole film but the majority were absolutely gripped. "
