Synopsis

Three years have passed since Moana, the Polynesian teenage seafarer and friend of the ocean, restored the goddess of nature’s heart to its rightful place, with the help of the shapeshifting demi-god Maui. Back on her home island of Motunui, Moana is much-loved by her people, including her baby sister Simea, who idolises her. Their father Chief Tui holds a ceremony to bestow upon his eldest daughter the prestigious title of ‘Tautai’, or leader of land and sea. But in the middle of the ceremony, Moana receives an unexpected message from her ancestors, with a mission to reconnect all the people and communities of Oceania. Reunited with her old friend Maui - and joined by some unlikely crew members - Moana sets sail on a quest to find the mysterious island of Motu Fetu, now hidden by the jealous God of Storms.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
