Synopsis

Jesy Nelson rocketed to fame after winning The X Factor with girl band Little Mix in 2011. The glory of success immediately collided with the nightmare of being targeted by online trolls, attacking her with malicious comments about the way her body looked. In candid, behind-the-scenes interviews with the singer and her close family and friends, it is revealed how this treatment became so extreme and traumatic that it drove Jesy to the brink of suicide. But you don’t have to be in the public eye to suffer the effects of cyberbullying, which is reportedly experienced by 70% of UK teenagers. The documentary follows Jesy as she meets with young people, parents, and specialists to discuss how social media can negatively impact your body image. This insight offers an opportunity to open a conversation about a very widespread yet isolating phenomenon, in a constructive and relatable way.

Please note that this documentary includes discussions about self-harm and suicide that some viewers may find distressing.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
