Synopsis

The social media platform Instagram has gained over a billion followers worldwide in just ten years, shaping society in the 21st century in unprecedented ways. However, many have questioned the negative impacts that Instagram may have on society. With governments ramping up their efforts to regulate social media networks, this documentary takes a deeper look at ‘the Instagram effect’ through interviews with the engineers and developers that created Instagram alongside individuals sharing their stories of the role Instagram has played in shaping their experiences around body image, self-harm and addiction.
