In 1999, an American girl named Celeste survives a mass shooting at her school, and marks the harrowing tragedy with a heartfelt song she’s written at the memorial service. Her rendition is filmed, however, which results in Celeste becoming an unlikely international pop star, with a meteoric rise to stardom over the next couple of years. Flash forward to 2017 and Celeste – as popular as ever, but now with obvious addiction issues and struggling with the pressure of fame – attempts to re-connect with the daughter she rarely sees while preparing for her a comeback concept album. ‘Vox Lux’ is an ambitious exploration of mental health, celebrity culture and the modern world from young directing talent Brady Corbet.
Documentary exploring the story behind eccentric and revered rock band X Japan, chronicling their success, devoted fan base and tragic history.
