Synopsis

Following the death of his father, T’Challa inherits his role as king of the (fictional) African nation of Wakanda. To the uninformed outside world, this land appears desolate and undeveloped, but it is in fact the most technologically advanced country on the planet. When two enemies conspire to bring down the kingdom, claiming its resources and power for themselves, T’Challa – as Black Panther – has to team up with a CIA agent and members of an all-female Wakandan special forces troop to prevent the escalation of a war. However, one of the men they are fighting has a more complicated story than initially appears. This is an inventive and thrilling instalment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, distinguished by its intelligence, style, and eagerness to genuinely engage with elements of the black experience, both historical and contemporary.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
