It’s Meemaw’s 90th birthday so Greg and his brothers are bundled into the car by his parents for a fun family road trip to go and visit her. Realising that he could use this to make it to a gaming convention and meet YouTube sensation Mac Digby, Greg hatches a plan to get them there instead. With much slapstick comedy and gross-out moments on the way, fans of the series will love revisiting well-known characters and watching their wacky plans play out. Going beyond the book, the film makes an interesting comment on social media with Greg becoming an unlikely internet star and struggling to cope with the fame that ensues.
