This romantic drama tells the story of the first date between two young lawyers practicing at the same firm in 1989 Chicago. As they stroll around the city, the charismatic, attractive pair discuss their beliefs, ideals, politics, community organizing and America’s racial history, culminating in a visit to the cinema to watch Spike Lee’s seminal Do The Right Thing. What makes this couple distinctive however, is that they are the young Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson. Using accounts from Obama’s memoir as a springboard, the understated, tender love story of two ordinary people is wrapped around a moment of quiet, but profound historical significance.
Infrequent strong language, moderate violence, references to drug misuse.
