Synopsis

Mohammed Assaf is a young boy growing up in turbulent Gaza, performing in a band alongside his sister Nour and their two friends. As they collectively grow to appreciate the vocal talents of Mohammed, the quartet begin to take music more seriously and are soon playing at weddings. Suddenly, tragedy strikes, throwing Mohammed’s plans into disarray, until one day – years later – he is given the opportunity to perform on the region’s biggest reality TV competition. Desperate to make an impact, Mohammed knows this is his chance to make a name for himself and change his life forever.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
