Synopsis

Inspired by extraordinary true events, this nail-biting thriller tells the story of two different expeditions to the summit of the world’s highest mountain that encountered one of the severest snowstorms the region has ever experienced. Facing insurmountable obstacles and the harshest of elements, this film vividly captures the climber’s fates, as their challenge to scale the mountain becomes a desperate struggle for survival. Adapted from a series of non-fiction books about the incident and with an unusual focus on character for a film of this scale, this is intense, exhilarating cinema, with a strong emotional core.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."
