Synopsis

Making an action film about a guy who can't move is a tough challenge - but Brit director Danny Boyle uses all the technical and creative tricks in his arsenal to ensure this film is never less than gripping. The guy in question is real-life mountain climber and thrill junkie Aron Ralston, whose arm is trapped by a fallen boulder in an isolated Utah desert canyon. Over the next five days, slowly dying of starvation and with only a blunt pocket knife, some climbing ropes and 300 ml of water to draw on, he resorts to desperate measures to survive, while looking back over the mistakes of his life.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
