Celebrated filmmaking duo the Coen Brothers transport viewers back in time to early-1960s New York in this darkly comic yet moving musical drama about a week in the life of a fictional young folk singer. An intimate meditation on artistic idealism, success, and failure, the critically acclaimed and award-winning tale features a terrific lead performance by Oscar Isaac as the titular musician who’s struggling to make a name for himself on the local scene. Broke, depressed and sleeping on friends’ sofas, Llewyn suffers a catalogue of disappointments, despite his obvious talent. Unwelcome news from his best mate’s wife only adds to his woes, leaving him wondering whether he should finally give up on his dream of fame.
Contains strong language, sex references and implied hard drug use
