Coming of Age, Drama
English (English subtitles)
The joys and heartbreaks of growing up are beautifully handled in this captivating coming-of-age story that balances emotion with humour. Set in the early 1990s, it follows teen outsider Charlie as he attempts to survive his first year of high school. Initially, he's a shy 'wallflower', watching everything from the sidelines, until free-spirited senior Sam and her stepbrother Patrick take him under their wing. Soon Charlie's having fun, partying hard and falling in love, while in the classroom, his favourite teacher feeds his dreams of becoming a writer. But beneath Charlie's new confidence is a persistent sadness that begins to resurface when his older friends start preparing to leave for college.
