In this gently observed, poignantly bittersweet indie coming-of-age drama several teens navigate suburban Michigan looking for love and adventure during one long summer night of sleepovers and parties just before the start of the new school year. They include Claudia, a new girl in town who makes the painful discovery her slumber party hostess knows her boyfriend more closely than she had suspected; and Rob, who obsesses over his from-a-distance crush on a girl he saw in the supermarket. We follow them in their shaky uncertainties and heady yearnings for new experience, as they prepare to leave their childhoods behind.
Inspired by 1999's real-life Columbine shootings, this unsettling drama is a fictional account of violence in an American high school.
