A treasure trove of interviews and footage from the late 1960s and early 1970s provides a fascinating snapshot of the US Civil Rights struggle in this insightful documentary. Filmed by Swedish TV journalists during the turbulent era, these atmospheric images have been edited together with modern voiceover commentary from some of today’s leading African-American figures, to chart the evolution of the Black Power Movement, and reflect on its legacy. The result is a compelling visual and aural collage that puts the battle for equality and change into its social and political context, as it touches on everything from black style and music to the more incendiary topics of ghetto poverty, pervasive racism, and the impact of high-profile assassinations and the Vietnam War.
In the US south in the 60s, just after the passing of the Civil Rights Act, a black police officer is arrested for a prominent white citizen's murder.
